First Print Press started as the fulfillment of a promise from art historian Sherry Turner DeCarava to her husband, master photographer Roy DeCarava, to bring his artwork before the public and keep it in print. It has grown into a comprehensive publishing project of the DeCarava Family, fueled by love, hard work, determination, and dedicated supporters of art everywhere.

We’re so excited that you’re here to join us in welcoming The Sweet Flypaper of Life back into print. It’s been an incredible journey, which you can learn a bit more about here, but we’ll also be posting all kinds of material related to our projects, including behind-the-scenes looks at the process of bringing SFOL to life. Plus, we’ll be debuting a number of new projects and events as we work with The DeCarava Estate to prepare for the centennial of Roy DeCarava’s birth in 2019.
